How to Draw Snoopy: The First Step
Step 1:
- Draw an oval that resembles an egg on the top of the page as the first step towards sketching Charlie Brown's dog, Snoopy. Draw a shape underneath this oval that resembles a massive water drop. Following are the basic shapes of Snoopy's head and torso.
Step 2:
- Next, draw two intersecting lines—one vertical and one horizontal—across the circle. At its intersection with the top of the body shape, the horizontal line should be drawn with a slight bend. These construction lines will subsequently be used to position Snoopy's features.
Step 3:
- Snoopy's ear should be drawn on the left side of his head, just below the building line. It should be made to resemble the letter U.
Step 4:
- Snoopy's arm should be drawn in step four to resemble a somewhat longer U shape with the body shape on the inside.
Step 5:
- Draw a long, flat oval underneath Snoopy's body and connect it to it with two vertical lines in step five. Create a parallel oval hidden behind the first one on the right side. Add one more vertical line to the drawing to join this oval to the body. These will be Snoopy's legs and feet.
Step 6:
- Charlie Brown's beloved dog Snoopy from the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Shultz has now been created in its entirety! Once you have Snoopy's basic outline, finish your drawing. Sharpen your pencil at this step to create a sketch with darker, more distinct lines.
Step 7:
- Define Snoopy's shape using the fundamental head guidance, but bend the top right side inward toward the middle. Avoid drawing the top of his head's jawline as you grow darker in his ear.
Step 8:
- Draw an oval on the horizontal construction line's right side, immediately below the vertical construction line. Shade it in, with the exception of a little oval at the top for glare. The nose on Snoopy will resemble this. Make a big U-shaped curve for Snoopy's mouth that touches the back of his head.
Step 9:
- Draw two circles with curves on top that resemble the number 6 to the left of the vertical construction line and above the horizontal construction line. Circles with shading. These are how Snoopy's eyes look. To represent his eyebrows, draw a thick curve over each eye on top of his head. Lift the right brow from his head.
